Skip These Fruits and Veggies<\/b><\/h3>\n

Fruits and veggies probably seem like a no-brainer. They\u2019re good for us, <\/span>of course<\/span><\/i> they must be good for our dog. Not so. That\u2019s why you\u2019ll want to<\/span> avoid feeding your dog<\/span><\/a> avocados, cherries, grapes, raisins, onion, garlic, wild mushrooms, rhubarb, and fruits with pits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, your dog can choke on fruit pits, whereas grapes, cherries, and raisins can cause lethal reactions. Likewise, onions and garlic can damage your dog\u2019s red blood cells, causing anemia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fruits and veggies that aren\u2019t on this list<\/span><\/a>\u2014like watermelon, bananas, potatoes, green beans, and celery\u2014are fine. However, don\u2019t overdo it. These substances seemingly make the world go round once you hit adulthood. For your dog though, not so much.<\/span> Chocolate, caffeine, and coffee<\/span><\/a> can cause vomiting, diarrhea, panting, excessive thirst and\/or urination, tremors, seizures, and even death. With the holiday season coming up<\/a>, make sure you keep all three of these items out of the reach of your inquisitive pooch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pass on the Fat (and Bones)<\/b><\/h3>\n

While plenty of pet owners think it\u2019s natural to feed<\/span> fat and bones to dogs<\/span><\/a>, it\u2019s actually a bad idea. The fat trimmings from meat\u2014even if the meat is cooked\u2014can cause pancreatitis in dogs. As for the bones, they can splinter, causing digestive problems in your dog. Raw eggs and fish are other no-nos. The raw eggs can lead to a biotin deficiency, affecting your dog\u2019s skin and fur. While raw fish doesn\u2019t have the same impact, it may contain dangerous parasites or harmful bacteria that\u2019ll make your dog ill or worse.<\/span><\/p>\n
